Madam Benta Community Centre (MBCC) is a community-led organization started in the Western Kenya region of Kenya, Homabay County within Mbita/ Rusinga to provide humanitarian support by improving the livelihoods of the families living within and surrounding Islands of Lake Victoria, targeting women, Youths, Children and people neglected by the society and their own family members.

The initiative of Madam Benta Community Centre was born in memory of the Late Madam Benta Asingo who was known as the Big Teacher and Founder of Kanyala Littles Stars. Madam Benta was a local teacher within Rusinga Island but with an international mind set. She was full of compassion and care for the well-being of communities.

Why Madam Benta Community Centre?

Family is not about blood. It is about who is willing to hold your hand when you need it most. Human being is more than a profit. Compassion and Care builds communities. The MBCC was founded on these bases. To help families, homes and households as the foundation of communities. As an organization, we look towards reaching out to 70% of such population both offline and online.

MBCC bridges this gap by extending compassion, love, and care of community hood that people can have the confidence to face tomorrow with hope. We do this by providing health education and preventive health services, Food security and environmental conservations within homes in rural set-up, as well as families within towns and fishing beaches set-up.

Dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged families in Homabay County and beyond by providing holistic humanitarian support and fostering a sense of belonging and support through health education (WASH, Mental Health and Behavioural Health), Literacy (Library services and ICT), Capacity Building, Food & Nutritional Security.
